Abstract
Project Aim: To reduce the overall incident rate at Janet Shaw Clinic by improving the therapeutic environment and activities available. New patients on JSC have no leave for a period, restricting access to wider therapeutic activities. Limited indoor space often leads to boredom and incidents, while the ample outdoor area offers opportunities for engaging group gardening. Currently, the most frequent incidents involve patient assaults on staff. Tools Used: Service User Co-Production; SPC Chart - https://aqua.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/qsir-statistical-process-control.pdf; Staff Engagement. Project Impact: The ‘12 Days of Christmas’ activities in December 2024 saw a significant improvement in incident rates on JSC. A dedicated Sensory Room (to engage all senses for service users) was opened in July 2025. Service users have actively engaged in co-producing and maintaining activities such as the fruit & vegetable growing in the garden.
