Abstract

Purpose/Background: Some surgical techniques, including prophy-lactic mesh placement and positioning stomas either through or lateral to rectus muscle, have been investigated for potential reduction of stoma complications. This systematic review evaluates efficacy and safety of two operative techniques: deep stomal fixation and extraperitoneal approach of stoma creation.
