Frailty alone should not be a limiting factor for patients undergoing elective surgery however there is a strong argument to run perioperative multidisciplinary clinics as patients living with frailty have an increased risk of post-operative complications and increased length of stay. Integrating frailty scoring into the elective surgical pathway would enable patients living with frailty to be identified and reviewed by the MDT to assess risk and optimise medically prior to surgery.Citation
